Creating the BIG dude BMW R80
When we got a call with the question if we were able to build a BIG dude's BMW R80 rt scrambler, we said: ‘Sure! We are always up for a challenge!’ When the customer walked into our shop a few days later, we immediately knew we had a big challenge ahead. The BMW R80 rt is not a big bike, so we had to modify quite a bit to make this really work well for someone who’s almost two meters tall.
To make the build of this bike a success, we came up with the following goals: the bike had to be comfortable to ride for the big dude, without making it look like he is riding a child’s toy.
How to make it comfortable
To complete the first part of our challenge, we started with creating the rear frame. Minimalistic in appearance, but higher "than normal" and extra strong. We also fitted an adjustable rear shock and a tall upside-down front fork with double brake discs and a twin caliper for more stopping power. After these modifications, the BIG dude was very pleased with his riding position.
The looks
The next thing on the list was to make the bike look good too! We crafted a custom seat with a built-in taillight, covered in brown leather. We also created a one-off stainless exhaust with some MAD exhaust mufflers. The bike also features a Motogadget system, a digital Acewell speedo, and mo. blaze bar-end turn signals. The Matt color with the white striping sets the bike off perfectly.
We as Moto Adonis are really proud of how this BMW R80 rt Scrambler turned out! It looks great and rides like dream! And most importantly: we made another customer happy with his dream bike!
