Motorcycle engine flush

You hear it everywhere but what is it and what does it actually do? We’ll talk you through it!

An engine flush sounds very extreme and hard but it reality is nothing more than adding a special motorcycle engine flush liquid to your motorcycle, letting it idle for some time and then change your oil like you are used to!

What is a Motorcycle engine flush?

A motorcycle engine flush is a chemical that when added to the warm motorcycle oil will help clean you engine from the inside. It removes deposits in the engine and gets everything loose. When draining the oil afterwards you will get all the old oil and leftover deposits out of the engine. The clean engine will then create less wear, lower emissions and improve performance. (LIQUI MOLY GmbH, n.d.)

How do I need to know if I should flush my motorcycle engine?

Through the years of riding your bike and perhaps the owners before you the engine oil has probably been changed a lot of times. By doing so you get most of the junk out of your engine, but now always everything. Especially when the oil change interval has been longer than they should have. Over the years the old oil builds up and sticks to the inside of your engine in a tougher form than it once was. To test if you have some build-up in your engine, you can shorten the oil change interval a couple of times and replace it right after the first 400km. When you notice that the oil is deep black after every change you can make the educated guess that you have old oil contaminating your new oil when adding it to the bike.

What engine flush should I use?

There are a lot of companies making engine flush liquids these days. This is why we took our time to research the best one for motorcycles. We concluded that liqui moly was our way to go, we used a lot of their liquids and the engine flush seemed to work very well for us and many others around the globe.
