BMW R75/6 Caferacer - The Story Behind The Bike

Dream Caféracer

I’m a 47 years old French guy, building motorbikes is not my job, in fact, I’m working in the video game industry. I love motorbikes since I was able to walk, but I’ve never touched anything on any of my everyday bikes for many years. Dreaming to own my personal café racer, I decided to go on and see what I could do with my only hands.

Buying a BMW R75/6

This BMW R75/6 is my age and the first bike I’ve ever worked on, I’ve bought it from an old man, it was left for dead in a barn, I’ve got it for a few bucks. I’ve learned all from scratch, mechanics, electricitypaint, tuning… I’ve established my workshop in my attic as I haven’t placed it anywhere and I tore down all the parts to renew everything. A really long road was waiting for me…

Rebuild the BMW R75/6

Buying tools after tools, pieces after pieces when I needed them and also when I can afford them, watching videos, reading books, making mistakes, and drinking beers that I’m also making in my workshop :) Doing everything on it, even spoking the wheels and mounting tires by hands. Finally, I did it and what a satisfaction when I heard it run for the first time after only a tree pushes on the start button. I’ve decided not to modify it too much, keeping every original part so I can turn it back to its original state.

Honda CR250 2 stroke and Suzuki RGV 250 projects

This was my first one but not my last, I’m now on my third revival, my second was two strokes, a 91 Honda CR250, bought inboxes and the actual is also two strokes from 91, a Suzuki  RGV 250, and none of those were running when I bought them.
